The surname 'Crow' originates from England. It is derived from the nickname from the bird, from the Middle English word 'crowe', from the Old English word 'crawa'. In Irish (Munster) it has been Anglicised in the Gaelic form 'Mac Conchradha'. In Irish it is also a translation of any of the various Gaelic names derived from the word 'fiach' meaning 'raven', 'crow'. Its variant 'Crowe' is very common in Northern Ireland.
