We find in 1403 a Lorenzo di Siracusa public notary in Sicily; an Augustine judge in Calabria 1547; a Diego among the competitors at the noble offices of Messina from 1621 to 1644 and a Scipione, judge of the initiatory court of said city in 1665-66; a Giuseppe, noble consul of sea and land, senator of Messina in 1727-28, who, with the privilege of March 22, 1717, granted the title of baron, was the husband of Oliva Cianciolo, and, as such, had on Sept. 26. 1747, investiture of the title of Baron of Scarpello; a Scipione, baron of Scarpello for investiture of 5 July 1749, senator of Messina, noble rector of the Verginelle in said city; a Francis, government consultor of the kingdom of Sicily, secretary of state of King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, supreme minister of justice and ecclesiastical, ascribed to the noble master of Messina of 1798-1807, decorated with real diploma of 12 December 1806 of title of marquis; a Scipio baron of Scarpello for investiture 8 December 1808 and an Antonino, sons of the late baron Giuseppe, invested with Scarpello on 17 October 1807, ascribed to the noble master of Messina of 1798-1807. Scipione, predicted, married Concetta Rosso and was the father of Giuseppe, husband of Concetta Guardavaglia and father of Scipione and Vittoria, wife to Pietro Gordone of Andrea of the barons of Camastrà. The family is generically registered in the Official Italian Noble List with the title of Baron of Scarpello (first-born male), in the person of the last invested Scipio (December 8, 1808). ...
