Origen del apellido Seguín, país de origen: Spain

Nobleza: Lords
Rastro heráldico de la familia: Seguín
Corona de la nobleza Seguín Ancient and noble Spanish family, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, during the centuries. The clear nobility of the House is confirmed by its presence in the valuable work "Repertorio de blasones de la comunidad hispanica - letras S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z" by Vicente De Cadenas y Vicent Instituto Salazar y Castro, at page 1598. Some members of the family distinguished themselves in the famous Battle of Lepanto (1571), a naval engagement in which a fleet of the Holy League, a coalition of European Catholic maritime states arranged by Pope Pius V, financed by Habsburg Spain and led by admiral Don John of Austria, inflicted a major defeat on the fleet of the Ottoman Empire in the Gulf of Patras. Moreover, this family, in all ages, always stands out, thanks to the prominent figures, which gave birth, in the public service, in the liberal and ecclesiastical professions and in the... Continuarámilitary service. Among these, without undervalue the omitted, we would like to mention: Pedro, landowner, flourishing in 1578; Alejandro, jurist, flourishing in Mallorca, in 1592; D. Fernando, apostolic commissioner, flourishing in 1604; Rodrigo, jurist, flourishing in Mallorca, in 1638; Juan Antonio, who served the King of Spain during the revolt of Masaniello in 1647; Jorge, landowner in Mallorca, flourishing in 1703; Carlos, Ambassador to the Holy See, flourishing in 1730. From the analysis of colours and symbols of the coat of arms we can have more information about the family virtues. The tincture azure symbolizes water, the continuity of life, it is a colour of nobility, beauty, chastity and fidelity; the sword, which is usually argent, means justice and military honour; the tincture or ("gold") refers to the most noble metal and it is symbol of generosity and elevation of the mind. Family names so old, without any doubt, honour not only the families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious persons.
