Ancienne et très noble famille du duché de Mantoue, de vertu claire et ancestrale, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie. Selon ce qui a été rapporté par le généalogiste Giovan Battista Crollalanza, dans les volumes de son "Dictionnaire historico-blasonique des familles nobles et notables italiennes éteintes et florissantes", publié à Pise en 1886 en trois volumes, de plus de 1400 pages, il serait une branche de l'ancienne famille florentine, transplantée en 1313 à Mantoue, avec un Pietro, qui émigra de sa patrie pour échapper aux discordes dont Florence fut ravagée par les deux factions des Guelfes et des Gibelins. Comme le rapporte Manno, la famille, également connue sous le nom d'Alberigo, jouissait des titres suivants : marquis de Mombaruzzo (1624) ; comtes / seigneurs de Fubine; Messieurs des Quarante. En tout cas, le comte Giambattista, mort en 1741, était gentilhomme à la cour des Gonzagues et chambellan
