Nach Angaben des Ahnenforschers Giovan Battista Crollalanza wäre es in den Bänden seines 1886 in Pisa veröffentlichten "historisch-blasonischen Wörterbuchs edler und bemerkenswerter italienischer Familien", das 1886 in drei Bänden auf über 1400 Seiten veröffentlicht wurde, ein Zweig der Antike Florentiner Familie, die 1313 mit einem Pietro nach Mantua zog, der aus seiner Heimat ausgewandert war, um der Zwietracht zu entkommen, die Florenz von den beiden Fraktionen der Welfen und der Ghibellinen heimgesucht hatte.
