Non ha dubio alcuno la famiglia esser qui venuta di Spagna col primiero Re Alfonso d'Aragona, il quale trahendo appresso di lui la prima nobiltà Spagnola, dal Regno di Valenza seco condusse Simonetto di antica, e chiara nobiltà della Città di Valenza, e benche assai giovanetto, oltremodo però bello, e prode Cavaliere; dal ritrovarsi nulla di meno di questa famiglia antichissima memoria nel nostro Regno fin dall'anno 1086, nel quale viveva Roberto così grande, e pio Signore, ch'hebbe a donare al glorioso San Benedetto, e al Monastero di Monte Casino la Chiesa di San Giovanni in Ponto, con tutte le sue ragioni, e pertinenze; furono alcuni d'opinione, che da questo Regno passassero i B. in Ispagna, e d'indi col Re Alfonso primo vi ritornassero; ma sia ciò come si voglia; ritornando a Simonetto stipite de' nostri B. hoggi viventi, fù costui di tanto valore, e saper dotato, ch'indusse quel sapientissimo
