Família muito antiga, chamada Boschetto ou Boschetti, da qual alguns gostariam de Manfredo, conde de Milão, que morreu em 8997 e indicou em uma antiga árvore genealógica como progenitora. No entanto, a primeira notícia certa é sobre um Gherardo De B., presente em um placito realizado por Henrique V, em 1116. Deste Gherardo Boschetto nasceu quem era cônsul de Modena nos anos 1171, 1174 e 1178. Filho de Boschetto foi outro Gherardo, também cônsul de Modena em 1200. Os membros dessa família sempre participavam ativamente do regimento de sua cidade e se distinguiam nas lutas cruéis e sangrentas das facções. Eles pertenciam à facção Guelph chamada Aigoni, da qual, com os Rangoni, eram os principais. Na Idade Média, três bispos deram sua terra natal: Alberto (1234-1264), também venerado como Beato, Filippo (1287) e Buonadomo (1311) para várias cidades de magistrados italianos como Albertino, Podestà de Perugia (1277) e Cremona (1278),

Blasone della famiglia Boschetto ricostruito da un disegno presente nell'opera "Raccolta di armi gentilizie di varie città e famiglie nobili d'Italia, parte solo tratteggiati a penna, e parte anche acquerellate" conservata presso la Biblioteca Nazionale di Roma nei manoscritti del fondo Vittorio Emanuele.
