Antica ed assai nobile famiglia del Regno delle Due Sicilie, di chiara ed avita virtù, conosciuta come (de) Francesco, (de) Francisco o (di) Francesco, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Ha avuto origine da un gentiluomo di Capua di nome Francesco, segretario di re Carlo Lo Zoppo e poi governatore della città di Sessa al tempo di re Roberto. All'epoca di Alfonso di Castiglia, la famiglia si portò in Sicilia e ivi si divise in due rami: l'uno in Palermo, l'altro in Messina. Ha posseduto la signoria di Aliano con il relativo castello, di Catanna, coi suoi casali e passo di Catona, di Caruso, di Polomba e di altri feudi. Tra i tanti personaggi che l'hanno illustrata, ricordiamo: Francesco, consigliere e protonotario di Palermo nel 1489; Agostino, luogotenente della R.
