Antica famiglia, già nobile prima del 1626, anno in cui fu aggregata al nobile Consiglio di Padova, detta Dottori o Dottor, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Venne insignita del titolo comitale, con decreto 19 Mar. 1676 del Senato Veneto, conferito ai discendenti di Giulio Dottori, in benemerenza dei servigi da lui prestati nella carriera militare. Ottenne la conferma della nobiltà con sovrana risoluzione 21 Mar. 1819, e quella del titolo comitale nel 1829. Alessandro Dottori, distinto dottor di legge, ebbe il vanto di esser uno di quei patrizi che nel 1413 scoprirono le ossa di Tito Livio, autore delle storie romane; Giacomo Dottori, fu Abate commendatario della Badia di Praglia, mentre Il conte Carlo Dottori, fu un distinto poeta lirico. La presenza dell'arme e del motto, nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia Dottori, ci conferma l'avita nobiltà, raggiunta dalla stessa. Motto della famiglia: In alteruta fortuna. La
