Ancient and illustrious anconitan family, whose origins can be traced back to the 9th century, and precisely in the county of Ferrette or Pfirt in Alsace. It is a tradition to have common origins with the Habsburgs and the descent of the noble Agilofingi lineage is attributed to that Antonio Ferretti who, about 1225, came to Italy, established his seat in the plain of Ronchi in Chiaravalle and Falconara Marittima, in that of Ancona, and initiated the people of Ferratta. The chronicles about the origins tell us that Teobaldo, brother of Ottopert of Habsburg, was the first count of Ferretto who lived in the eighth century. The last of these gentlemen was a Count Ulrich and the emperor of Germany himself, in truth, had among other titles that of Comes Ferrettis, as is undoubtedly shown in the diploma of 24 June 1589 by Rudolph II.
