A antiga e muito nobre família Campania, chamada Fusco, Fosco ou Foschi, são todas variantes da mesma cognominação, que se espalhou ao longo dos séculos em diferentes regiões da Itália. A essa família, unida à nobreza de Ravello em 1743, pertenciam oito bispos, entre os quais Angelotto, comandante de Cava, eleito cardeal em 1432 pelo papa Eugênio IV; Nicola, senhor de Acerno, copeiro de Carlos III de Anjou; Nicola, senhor de Valenzano, tesoureiro geral do rei Ladislao D'Angiò Durazzo. A família também se uniu à nobreza das Cartas no século XIX, reconhecida como admissível pelos guarda-costas reais na pessoa de Federico, que como 1º tenente do "3º Regimento de Infantaria da Linha do Príncipe" participou da campanha de 1860/61 para o defesa do Reino das Duas Sicílias, destacando-se nas ações de guerrilha na fronteira pontifícia e recebendo a honra da Cruz de San Giorgio e da Ordem de Francisco I
