The family originated in Florence, where they were matriculated in the arts of wool, silk and doctors and apothecaries and where they enjoyed the highest honors with a Bartolomeo Gamba, who was part of the lordship as Prior in the year 1426. The members of this illustrious family they moved for bargaining reasons to Barga and Carrara, practicing the wool industry. With sovereign rescript of 1 July 1836, dr. Niccolò, from Gio. Domenico, together with his paternal uncles dott. Ermenegildo and Avv. Angiolo, was ascribed to the Florentine nobility. The aforementioned dr.
