Die Familie stammte aus Florenz, wo sie in den Künsten Wolle, Seide und Ärzte und Apotheker immatrikuliert waren und wo sie mit einem Bartolomeo Gamba, der im Jahr 1426 als Prior Teil der Lordschaft war, die höchsten Auszeichnungen genossen. Die Mitglieder Von dieser berühmten Familie zogen sie aus Verhandlungsgründen nach Barga und Carrara, wo sie die Wollindustrie praktizierten. Mit souveränem Reskript vom 1. Juli 1836, Dr. Niccolò von Gio. Domenico, zusammen mit seinem Onkel väterlicherseits. Ermenegildo und Avv. Angiolo wurden dem Florentiner Adel zugeschrieben. Der vorgenannte dr. Niccolò, der 1834 die Erlaubnis erhalten hatte, den Nachnamen des Adopters Giuseppe Gamba hinzuzufügen, wurde mit einem Reskript vom 15. Februar 1838 auch vom Adel von Livorno ausgezeichnet, in dem er lebte und in dem er die Ehe mit der Adligen Ermellina Atena geschlossen hatte. von Domenico Castelli. Für die RD vom Februar 1881 fügte Gino, Gino, Niccolò Gamba auch den Nachnamen Castelli
