Família antiga e nobre de Malta, onde, em nome de Abela, é membro desde 1404 dos cargos de jurado ocupado por Frabimeo e Franchina de Licata. Um Vituzzo era um segredo real naquela ilha em 1458 e possuía um benefício de patrocínio. Um Filippo Licata a levou para a Sicília, que se casou com uma Laurella Lorefice, de uma família nobre, conforme relatado por Mugnos. Mas a partir de um documento antigo da corte de r. Herança nas obras do notar Lionti de Palermo, lemos que Filippo era o pai de Gerardo, nascido em 1520, casado com uma Margherita d'Aquino e um dos fundadores do Hospital de Santa Croce em Girgenti; isso também emergiu de uma placa sepulcral de 1581.
