Ancient and very noble Turin family, who however wanted to come from Bologna, of clear and ancestral virtue, originally known as Filippa, which spread over the centuries in various regions of Central Italy, where it was transcribed as Lippa, and overseas. Giovanni-Antonio, knight and auditor of Rota in Bologna in 1588, went to Piedmont where he was judge, senator and chamberlain in the Chamber (1594, January 25; licenses, 29, 243 v). He married Lucrezia, Melchiorre Marco Borgarelli, from Chieri, and Girolama Ceva di S. Michele. Giambattista, his son, was also a senator and purchased the fiefdom of Martiniana, to which the comital title was then attached.
