The ancient Italic gens of the Marassi, originally from Vicenza, was divided here, before 1000, into various branches, which, although retaining this name from the beginning, were then specifically indicated with that of the place, where they owned land and castle, so that this place name then became their real surname. Among these branches the most important was that of the Marassi da Seratico or Serego (now Sarego), which is one of the Municipalities of the Lonigo district in the Vicenza province.
