As antigas gens italianas dos Marassi, originalmente de Vicenza, foram divididas aqui, antes de 1000, em vários ramos, que, embora mantendo esse nome desde o início, foram então indicados especificamente com o do lugar, onde possuíam terras e castelo, para que esse nome de lugar se tornasse o sobrenome real. Entre esses ramos, o mais importante foi o de Marassi da Seratico ou Serego (atual Sarego), que é um dos municípios do distrito de Lonigo, na província de Vicenza. De acordo com antigas tradições populares, também coletadas pelos dois últimos bibliotecários de Bertoliana, Mons. Bortolan e Mons.
