Antica ed illustre famiglia tedesca, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Europa e del mondo. Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, essa discende dal nobile casato Mosch di Slesia, noto già nel XIV secolo con un Hans Mosch, balivo ereditario di Habelschwerdt. Nikolaus Mosch possedeva Koschpendorf vicino a Ottmachau nel 1515; nel 1582 Hans Mosch era consigliere anziano della contea di Glatz. Nel XVII secolo la casata inizia a dividersi in varie linee, alcune delle quali mutarono il cognome o il predicato. Tra queste anche la linea Moscherosch, di cui trattiamo, e che a sua volta si propagò a macchia di leopardo in tutta la Germania, talvolta in veste borghese altre nobile. Tra i suoi più influenti esponenti dobbiamo senza dubbio alcuni ricordare Johann Michael Moscherosch (1601-1669).
