Nikolaus Mosch besaß 1515 Koschpendorf bei Ottmachau; 1582 war Hans Mosch Oberrat der Grafschaft Glatz. Im 17. Jahrhundert begann sich die Familie in verschiedene Linien aufzuteilen, von denen einige den Familiennamen oder das Prädikat änderten. Darunter auch die Moscherosch-Linie, von der wir sprechen, und die sich ihrerseits wie ein Leopardenfleck in ganz Deutschland ausbreitete, mal in bürgerlichem, mal in edlem Gewand. Zu ihren einflussreichsten Vertretern gehört zweifellos Johann Michael Moscherosch (1601-1669).
