Large Mondovì family, with safe memories from the 13th century, widely branched out with numerous Gerosolimite knights. A branch moved to France, to Lyon, where it had a palace and the lordships of Croix and Grange in Bressa. The first-born line has, for progenitor, a Giambattista who was the author of the Cigliaro line, extinct in the seventeenth century in the Captis, heirs of the fief, known in history for the too famous Virginia Pallavicino, wife of Gian Antonio Pensa and procreator of the Umberti. The lineage of Giambattista, extinct in the eighteenth century, was invested with comital title in the person of Gianfrancesco, in 1616. Giampaolo continued the line with a wide descent, which ended in Count Giuseppe Maria around 1750. Giampaolo had another brother, named Marcantonio, who is the jamb of the living line. Carlo Vincenzo, n. in Mondovì on August 3, 1691, general auditor of the Court
