Di origine piemontese, se ne à memoria fin dal 1200 nella persona di Montore valoroso capitano d'armi. Un Francesco-Marcello, console piemontese, stabilì questa nobile famiglia in Toscana. Un Giovan-Marcello figlio del precedente la portò in Messina allorchè si recò al servizio di Re Carlo III di Borbone, e del quale fu capitano d'armi di Valdemone. Tolse egli in moglie la nobile Maria-Vittoria Perini e Reitano di Messina, dalla quale ebbe Francesco che fu capitan d'armi e Domenico il quale fu aggregato alla nobiltà di Messina con diploma senatorio dato nel gennaio 1807. Questo Domenico fu dotto in giurisprudenza e in letteratura, deputato pel distretto di Castroreale al Parlamento Siciliano nel 1813; poi fu giudice della Regia Udienza di Messina, del R. Patrimonio, quindi del supremo tribunale della Regia Gran Corte di Palermo. Nel 1819 l'anzidetto Domenico acquistò da Carlo Cottone principe di Castelnuovo la terra di Bavuso con l'annesso titolo

Inquartato: nel primo d'oro alla torre di rosso merlata alla guelfa di quattro pezzi; nel secondo di rosso al leone d'argento tenente con le branche anteriori un ramoscello di palma al naturale; nel terzo d'azzurro, al braccio destro armato di ferro al naturale, tenente con la mano di carnagione un nastro d'azzurro orlato d'oro, nel quarto d'oro, al leone di rosso tenente con la branca anteriore destra una spada al naturale alta in palo: con la fascia d'argento attraversante sul tutto e caricata d'una stella d'otto raggi d'azzurro.
