Famiglia d'origine sarda. Giovanni Tomaso Quigino ottenne il cavaliere il 14 maggio 1640 e la nobiltà il 5 settembre 1641. Della famiglia Puliga un Bernardino ebbe i cavaliere nel 1593; Gio. Pietro nel 1646; pure Gio. Tomaso nel 1646; Giovanni ottenne la nobiltà nel 1673 e Giovanni Pietro nel 1725. I Puliga furono insigniti del titolo comitale, titolo che spetta ai discendenti da Giuseppe (1828). Carlo Alberto Quigino Puliga (1900) fu vice ammiraglio nell'armata navale e sottosegretario di Stato per la marina italiana. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobile Italiano col titolo di conte (mpr.), in persona dei discendenti da Giuseppe (1828).
