Famiglia oriunda da Brolo, discendente da Jacobus Traxus (fine secolo XV) membro del Consiglio di Reggenza di Lombardia nel 1814-15, passata poi a Novara, quindi a Milano. Il capitano Giacomo (n. Madrid; deced. Novara 1803), di Lorenzo Tarsis, che si era arricchito nella Spagna, ritornato in patria fondò una commenda mauriziana. Il 28 febb. 1777 fu infeudato di Castel D'Agogna e investito il 10 marzo col titolo comitale. Sposò (1777) Teresa Giacinta, del quartiermastro Giuseppe Donaudi, e da queste nozze ebbe Paola Angela Maria (n. Novara, 19 agosto 1780; deced. 1837) che successe nel titolo comitale. Quest'ultima sposò Carlo, di Paolo Tarsis, (n. Riviera d'Orta, 18 luglio 1768; deced. 1836) il quale venne creato conte il 6 giugno 1835 per parificarlo alla consorte ed anche per ricompensare i servizi resi dal fratello suo Giambattista Giacomo (n. Novara, 4 settembre 1755) che fu segretario di Stato agli Interni (1785), primo ufficiale
