Antiga e nobre família de Bérgamo (Lombardia), de clara e ancestral virtude, cujo ramo se mudou para Verona, Veneto, onde, no ano de 1526, foi admitido naquele nobre Conselho. Originalmente conhecido como Zanchi, sendo originário de Grumello de' Zanchi, uma pequena terra no território entre Zogno e Poscante no vale de Brembana, o nome da família no Vêneto era frequentemente transcrito como Zanghi. Esta ilustre Casa possuía terras e castelos na área de Bérgamo, com o título de Conde, que mais tarde foi reconhecido pela República de Veneza. Conta entre seus maiores expoentes: cônegos, bispos e cavaleiros da Ordem Gerosolimitana. Giovan Grisostomo, cônego de Latrão, foi um estudioso discreto e morreu em 1556 em Bérgamo. Outros clérigos foram: Bernardino (1534), Gerardo (1535) e Marco Antonio (1587). Paolo, cavaleiro Gerosolimite, lutou no cerco de Vercelli e de La Rochelle na França.
