ZIGGIOTO | ZIGGIOTTI | ZIGGIOTTO | ZIGLIOTTI | ZIGLIOTTO

Zigzag, almost unique, is probably due to a recent incorrect transcript of one of the following surnames, Ziggiotti is typical of Vicenza, Arzignano, Sarego and Schio, Ziggiotto is also typical of Vicenza, Montebello Vicentino, Montecchio Major, Monticello Conte Otto, Vicenza, Lonigo and Nanto, Zigliotti is practically unique, Zigliotto is specific to the Vicenza, the Creazzo, Zugliano and Altavilla Vicentina, should derive from Hypochoristic, more or less dialectal, of the medieval name Lily or apheretic forms of names such as the Gothic Gunthigis, or Vitigis, or the Lombard Hildigis, or the Franco Radigis. Additions provided by Paolo Ziggiotto when I was a child, my grandfather told me that his surname came from Sigismund, an italianization of the last name. Additions provided by Giovanni Vezzelli ZIGGIOTTI-Surname Veneto which derives from Egidio staff through Egilio, (anciently Zilio and Cilio), who became Zilio, Zilli, Ziliàti, Zéggio, Zeggiàto, Ziliòtto, Ziggiòtti. D. Olivieri, surname of the Venetian Euganean, 135.
