The origin of this illustrious surname, by references from historians of the time and others found out by Araldis in the registry files of cities and other private ones, we could affirm, but not assure, that this shield or another very similar to it, initially appeared from the XI to XIV century, particularly in the repopulation of Estella, late XII century, being one of the families to reside within the city walls. The references of this family seem to be needed more frequently from the XV to the XIX century, especially the events of the promotion of the cultivation of sugar cane in the Antilles in 1644. All this seems to coincide with the family memory of some of the members of the branch of the Eloy family.
