Ancient and noble German family, originally from Swabia but later moved to Bavaria, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries, with a main branch in Austria. According to what has been handed down, this family, as a reward for valuable services rendered to Charles IV (14 May 1316 – 29 November 1378), Holy Roman Emperor, was admitted to the "Briefadel" (lit.
