Very ancient and illustrious family of whose origins there is no certain information, it is common opinion that this cognomination derives from the medieval name Levanus originating from the name brettone Levan. The names of the Levano are remembered in texts, notorious deeds and contracts for the sale of lands and houses since very ancient times in different regions of Italy with a prevalence in the territories of Naples and Rome. This family has said of the historian Amayden was certainly included among those collected in the Golden Book of the Capitol. From the bibliography documented on the Vatican manuscripts, the relatively small number of memoirs concerning Roman families can be found.
