Linaje de Aragón, con casa infanzona de mucha antigüedad en el lugar de Ara, del partido judicial de Jaca (Huesca), y enclavado en sus montañas. Todos los tratadistas que hemos consultado coinciden en afirmar que los progenitores del linaje tomaron por apellido el nombre del mencionado pueblo, porque fueron conquistadores y pobladores suyos en tiempos de la Reconquista. El casal que allí fundaron aún se conserva, como también el apellido, evidenciándose la nobelza de sus hijos por muchos testimonios de hidalguía y las ejecutorias que poseyeron. Gómez de A. se halló en la batalla de las Navas de Tolosa con el Rey de Navarra, aun cuando D. Tomás Ramírez de Monleón asegura que fué con el Monarca aragonés. Fué sucesor suyo Domingo A., que obtuvo licencia del Rey Don Jaime para hacer la salva de su infanzonía ante D. Ximén Pérez de Salanova, que era el Justicia de Aragón, como, en efecto, lo hizo, despachándole el Rey privilegio de infanzonía para él, sus hijos y descendientes directos. Tuvo por hijo a Miguel A., vecino de Sarsamarcuello, que fué padre de Sancho de A., que se avecindó en el lugar de Javierre, del partido judicial de Jaca. ...
