Le premier connu de cette maison est Guigues, écuyer, exècuteur testamentaire, en 1275, de Guigues Alleman, seigneur d'Uriage et probablement son aïeul maternel. Il possèdait différentes terres en Diois et en Valentinois, qui relevaient d'Aymar de Poitiers. Pons de Châteaudouble a le titre de chevalier dans le testament de Falcon Artaud du mois d'avril 1381. L. de La Roque, dans l'Armorial du LAnguedoc, commence la filiation de cette maison à Pons chevalier, émancipant son fils, le 18 fevrier 1406, et termine au XIème degré par Gaspard-Melchior, écuyer, seigneur de Beaufort et La Gardette, qui épouse, le 1er mars 1730, Lucrèce, dont il eut: 1° gaspard-Melchior, marié en 1756 à Louise de Chanaleilles de Bellenave; 2° Paul Isaac, maré en 1768 à Catherine de Michalon. Au VIIème degré, Isac, seigneur de Beaufort, genthilhomme servant du Roi (1584), épousa, le 22 février 1590, Esther Sauvan, dont il eut: 1° Charles, seigneur de Montclar, maintenu dans sa noblesse en Dauphiné avec ses deux frères, par jugement souverain du 9 novembre 1668; 2° Paul; 3° Jean, seigneur de La Gardette, demeurant à Baix, diocèse de Viviers, capitaine au régiment de Montclar (1635), maintenu dans sa noblesse en Languedoc, par jugement souverain du 30 janvier 1669. ...
