Giorgio, originario d'Ampezzo, si trasferì a Murano nella seconda metà del secolo XVIII, allo scopo di esercitare l'arte vetraria. Egli aveva presentato nel 1776 alla Repubblica di Venezia una dotta relazione sulle vetrerie francesi, spagnole ed inglesi. Del suo matrimonio con Capello Elisabetta e dei suoi viaggi commerciali in Inghilterra fanno testimonianza i documenti presso l'Archivio di Stato. Giorgio B. era un uomo di grande attività, di svegliato ingegno e ricco di iniziative industriali. Egli aprì una fabbrica di vetri comuni, specialmente di bottiglie, imitando perfettamente la produzione inglese. Questa iniziativa gli procurò l'onore di essere iscritto nel Libro d'oro di Murano con tutti i suoi discendenti, il che avvenne al 15 aprile 1793, e, per fatali circostanze, fu l'ultimo vetraio muranese che ottenne questo privilegio.
