Procede este apellido de los Países Bajos, de la antigua Provincia de Hainaut, Arzobispado de Cambray, perteneciente hoy al Departamento francés de Norte. De este lugar era oriundo Juan Pedro C. (hijo de Huberto, Esclavino de Berlaimont), donde fue bautizado el 23 de marzo de 1708. Se licenció en Derecho y casó en Francia con María Teresa Laurens D'Auret, viudo de la cual contrajo nuevas nupcias en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, el 28 de junio de 1748, con Doña Cristina Magdalena Châtelet, hija de don Pedro Châtelet, natural de Glückstadt, en el reino de Prusia y de su legítima esposa doña Rita Dulce de Vera, casados también en Santa Cruz el 25 de mayo de 1727. Don Juan Pedro Cambreleng, dejó cuatro hijos: tres de su primer matrimonio y uno del segundo. Entre ellos, Don Juan Bautista C., que fue Vicecónsul del Reino de los Países Bajos en el Puerto de la Cruz de La Orotava, donde casó el 1° de junio de 1757, con Doña Isabel Durrant, hija del También Vicecónsul de Inglaterra. Su hermano Don Francisco C., casó en Santa Cruz de Tenerife el 6 de junio de 1772, con Doña Catalina Sarmiento de Valladares, hija de Don Juan Francisco de Paula Sarmiento de Valladares y de Doña Juana Piar y Lotin. Otro hermano de Juan Pedro, citado al principio, fuie Esteban Dionisio C., nacido también en Berlaimont, donde recibió el bautismo el 22 de octubre de 1705. Se estableció en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, donde contrajo dos matrimonios. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia C., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento estrella es la figura más extendida en la heráldica, su significado es impreciso, en cuanto se refiere a la Península, pero parece ser que demostrar su fidelidad a la Iglesia de Roma, por analogía al significado en Lombardía y Toscana que era la pertenencia al partido Güelfo (del Papa de Roma).
