Una delle 14 famiglie nobili di Carmagnola, riconosciuta come tale dal marchese di Saluzzo (9 novembre 1476); forse proveniente o agnatizia dei signori di Robassomero. Il Della Chiesa (Descriz. Piemonte, ms. IV, 26), li ritiene discendenti dai fratelli Tarino e Reinaldo di Gerardo Umberto, di Oberto, vivente nel 1140. Nel consegnamento dell'arma gentilizia del 1687, erano divisi in otto casate. Vittorio Amedeo II con Patenti del 15 dicembre 1682 concedeva la nobiltà ai cugini Giovanni Bartolomeo, Giovanni Battisti e canonico Ottaviano, tutti di Carmagnola. Da Giovanni Battista discendono gli attuali rappresentanti della famiglia, riconosciuti nobili con Decreto Ministeriale 30 agosto 1894 nella persona di Pietro (nato Racconigi, 22 giugno 1849).
