La filiación documentada de la rama española empieza en Damián de E. y Boncompagni (hijo de Nicolás de E. y María Boncompagni, hermana de Hugo Boncompagni, más tarde Papa con el nombre de Gregorio XIII). Sirvió en el ejército español de Italia, a las órdenes de su primo Jacobo Boncompagni. Duque de Sora y Arce, Marqués de Vignola. General de la Iglesia y Capitán general por el Rey Don Felipe II del ejército de Lombardía. Este Jacobo era hijo del Papa Gregorio XIII, nacido antes de que su padre abrazara el estado eclesiástico, y fué tronco en Italia de la egregia familia de los Duques de Sora y de Arce. Príncipes soberanos de la isla de Elba y Príncipes de Piombino. Damián de E. Boncompagni casó con doña Lucrecia Giustiniani, y tuvo por hijo a Francisco de E. y Giustiniani, nacido en Arenzano el 14 de Septiembre de 1596, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Tomasa Vento, y en ella procreó a Nicolás de E. y Vento, que nació en Arenzano el 2 de Agosto de 1617 y casó con doña Baptina de Rapallo, de la que tuvo a Jerónimo de E. y Rapallo, nacido en Arenzano y bautizado en la iglesia de San Nazario y San Celos el 26 de Febrero de 1669. Se unió en matrimonio con doña Benita Agnese (nacida en Cogoleto el 19 de Mayo de 1677), en la ciudad de Arenzano, el 18 Noviembre de 1694, y tuvo por hijo a José María de E. y Agnese, que nació en Arenzano. ...
