Nobility crown PiresEste apelido foi, na origem, patronímico de Pedro e é o mesmo que P., forma esta que se radicou no nosso país, sendo aquela a espanhola e mais usada em Portugal nos primeiros reinados. Muitos dos Pires ou peres se distinguiram em vários campos, merecendo dos nossos Reis várias Mercês, como cartas de Brasão de Armas, como sucedeu com João Manuel de Carvalho Pires em 22.4.1781, as quais ainda hoje se vêm no seu Solar da Igreja, em Mondim de Basto. Outros procedem da vila de Almendro, provincia de Huelva, em Espanha, descendente de Don Manuel Domínguez Llanes e de sua mulher, com quem c. a 21.2.1773, Doña María Pérez Barba (filha de Don Alonso Pérez Barba e de Doña María Gómez Corrêa), cujo filho Don Ildefonso Domínguez Pérez (n. a 21.9.1782) passou a Portugal, em princípios do séc. XIX, devido aos motins que agitaram a Andaluzia durante o reinado de José Bonaparte, de 1808 a 1813 (a chamada "guerra dos franceses"), e foi vice-cônsul de Espanha em Albufeira. Do seu casamento com Doña Maria-del-Carmen Barba Ponce (n. a 31.1.1782) (filha de Don Lorenzo Barba Ponce e de Doña Catalina González Romero), nasceu, único varão, Ildefonso Domingues P. (f. a 24.8.1881), sr. da quinta da Cova dos Gatos, propietário em Alcantarilha, o qual c. a 28.9.1840, nesta vila, com D. Maria-da-Conceição Gomes (7.9.1821-9.3.1891), filha de Don Juan Gómez Pablo, proprietário, e de Doña Lucia Rodríguez Thenório. ...
