Nobility crown PolierNoblesse dont le nom est mêlé à l'histoire de Villefranche en Rouergue. Citée dans la guerre des Anglais (1214-1354). Appauvrie à cette époque, elle passa dans l'ordre de la bourgeoisie. Des consuls de Villefranche (1400-1614); des avocats et magistrats. Branche protestante en Suisse. Comme autrichiens (1828 et 1834). Un membre de cette famille: Charles Polier, contrôleur du roi, greffier des États du Velay (1769) et receveur des tailles au Puy, épousa Anne-Claudine de Veyrac, laquelle acquit la coseigneurie de Glavenas en 1771. Ils en reçurent l'investiture l'année suivante. A ce nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on a reproduit ci-contre et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique la certitude d'une valeur remarquable. Armes de cette famille: D'argent, à un coq hardi de sable, becqué, crété et membré de gueules. Devise: Et Phoebi et Martis. Charles Polier, receveur des tailles au Puy, d'après un tableau offert par lui, en 1735, à la chapelle des Pénitents, brisait: D'azur à un coq d'argent, becqué, crêté, barbé et Membré de gueules; au chef cousu d'azur chargé de cinq molettes d'or, 3 et 2. ...
