Nobility crown RecueroQuien fuera el principal ancestro y tronco propagador de este ilustre linaje se ignora por su remota antigüedad siendo por tanto tradicional e inmemorial la nobleza de sus hijos los cuales han gozado siempre y en todas partes de la consideración y preeminencias correspondientes a sus lustrosos nacimientos, no siendo la más esclarecida de sus líneas la que se arraigó y floreció a lo largo de España. El linaje de este noble apellido es de origen montañés, con casas en Villas de Selaya y Carriedo. Entroncaron con los Azpiazu y Bracamonte y se extendieron por Asturias. Son las armas más usadas por el linaje Recuero en la región de Selaya: de azur, con dos flores de lis de oro. Los de la región de Asturias ostentaron: en oro, con un árbol de sinople. Con el descubrimiento del Nuevo Mundo, muchos fueron los hombres y mujeres que cruzaron el Atlántico en busca de un nuevo horizonte y en concreto los que portando el apellido Recuero, extendieron su linaje por América. Así pues, tras nuestra investigación realizada en el Archivo General de Indias, donde consta el nombre de los pasajeros que viajaron al Nuevo Mundo, encontramos que Andrés Recuero, natural de Cartagena, hijo de Andrés Recuero e Inés Rodríguez, junto con su mujer Catalina Gijón, natural de Argamasilla, partió hacia Tierra Firme como trabajador del Contador Juan Vivero, el 16 de junio de 1578. Un año antes de partir fue nombrado Sargento del Ejército por decreto de la Real Compañía de Indias en agosto 1577; establecido ya en Tierra Firme en otro documento del mismo archivo figura que dimitió del cargo a los doce años de ocuparlo, compró una hacienda y acumuló gran fortuna, murió a los 69 años víctima de unas extrañas fiebres, legó sus propiedades a los domínicos y repartió el dinero a sus dos hijos reconocidos, por lo que suponemos que fue uno de los iniciadores de esta saga familia en América.
