Ed infatti il cavaliere Piero Tomirch dà notizia di questa nobile famiglia che dice derivata dalla Spagna da un Gilberto Xaxa, uno dei cavalieri che seguirono re Martino. Rammenta poscia un Ximenes Xaxa, capitano in un reggimento dei cavalieri gerosolimitani nell'acquisto della Sardegna. Un Francesco fu secreto e capitano giustiziere di Nicosia 1518. Un altro Francesco fu giurato in Polizzi nel 1518. Un Pietro, da Nicosia, fu secreto di Castelluzzo; un Antonino, in data 12 febbraio 1773, insieme con la moglie Girolama Rao, in seguito alle fatte prove di nobiltà, ottenne l'iscrizione nella nota per gli inviti a Corte, e, con privilegio dato il 7 dicembre 1773, ottenne il titolo di barone di San Carlo; un Salvatore fu giurato nobile in Siracusa nel 1805-6; un ...
