La tradizione ci tramanda che le famiglie Signori e Comenduno abbiano avuto avuto comune capostipite, rinvenuto in un cavaliere, del seguito di Federico III di Svevia, di nome Weber o Wapper, investito del feudo di Comenduno, onde i discendenti furon detti Weber, Signori di Comenduno, Comenduni o, semplicemente, Signori. Ma molti alberi genealogici dell'Archivio vecchio municipale di Bergamo ed un diploma di nobiltà, rilasciato, il 12 maggio 1789, a don Luigi, Giovan Francesco e Giacomo Antonio, figli di Marco, del qm. Giovan Giacomo, fanno capo ad un Girolamo, figlio di Gataldo di Comenduno, i Signori risultano cittadini di Bergamo, sin dal 1278. Questa famiglia bergamasca diede uomini illustri nelle prelatura e nelle armi.
