Antica famiglia veronese, originaria da Milano, nota in Verona col nome di Stopazzola da una terra di questo nome posseduta dalla famiglia, eretta poi in feudo nobile e giurisdizionale nel 1478. Sin dal 1465 figura nel campione dell'estimo, ma non fu aggregata al Consiglio che nel 1713. Il feudo di Stopazzala fu eretto in contea dal Senato Veneto con Decreto 31 marzo 1703 e da quell'epoca la famiglia ne godette il titolo comitale, che con quello di nobile di Verona fu riconosciuto con D.M. 28 luglio del 1895.
