Le nom de cette maison est diversement écrit Tessier, Teyssier et mieux Texier. Le Nobiliaire du Limousin, qui donne la filiation de cette famille depuis la fin du XVème siècle, constate que, le 4 novembre 1507, Barthélemy Texier, docteur ès-lois, conseiller au parlement de Bordeaux, rendit à Alain d'Albret, vicomte de Limonges, aveu de la quatrième partie de la chatellenie de Javerlhac; qu'en 1541, François Texier, écuyer, seigneur du Breuil, paroisse de Jumilhac, fit semblable hommage, de même que le fils de ce dernier, le 14 février 1583. Dans ce même Nobiliaire on voit que: Sicaire-Adrien Texier, écuyer, seigneur de Talivaud, gendarme de la Guienne, et capitaine de cavalerie, nommé chevalier de Saint-Louis, le 25 mai 1775, habitait Nontron, où fut élu colonel de la garde nationale, le 15 septembre 1789; qu'il eut deux fils, dont l'un, Ambroise-Andrien, fut gendarme de la garde, et le second émigra. Rentré en France en 1802, il fut fait chevalier de Saint-Louis par ordonnance du 8 novembre 1815, et fut élevé au grade de chef de bataillon du génie, par un brevet du 20 février 1817. Marié avec Marie-Marthe de Saleton, il a eu, entre autres enfants: Julie-Jeanne-Virginie, qui à épousé François-Armand de Fornel, et Jeanne Julie, mariée, le 15 novembre 1841, à Jean-Louis Desmier. A l'assemblée générale de la Noblesse, en 1789, la famille Texier à été représentée à Angoulême, à Tours et à Périgueux. Parmi les votants dans cette ville, on voit, ainsi inscrit: haut et puissant seigneur François Tessier, marquis de Javerlhac, seigneur de Javerlhac et maréchal de camp. ...
