Blasone della famiglia Franchini Taviani in Pistoia, Prato e Firenze, Santa Maria Novella, Lion bianco; fonte: "Raccolta Ceramelli Papiani" custodita presso l'archivio di stato di Firenze fasc.2126. Note Secondo il Casotti (cfr.) la famiglia è originaria di Pistoia e ottenne la cittadinanza pratese nel 1313. Si trovano anche i cognomi divisi e il cognome «Ughi», tutti agnatizi. La 2° variante pistoiese (ove forse la palla è uno scudetto rotondo di Francia) reca appunto il cognome Ughi. Il cavaliere Ugo Taviani, pistoiese, ottenne la cittadinanza fiorentina nel 1653. Cesare Franchini Taviani fu ammesso al patriziato pistoiese nel 1755.
