Famiglia appartenente al ducato di Mantova. Il conte Giambattista (deceduto 1741) fu gentiluomo alla Corte dei Gonzaga e ciambellano del principe Filippo d'Assia-Darmstadt. Il figlio suo Giuseppe (deceduto 1781), per ordinazione 9 novembre 1770 della Regia Deputazione Araldica della Citta' e Stato di Mantova otteneva la delineazione dello stemma gentilizio nel Codice Araldico e l'ascrizione nel Libro Araldico col titolo di conte con trasmissione primogeniale maschile. Da lui discese il ramo primogeniale estinto con Gaetano (deceduto 1835), che con sovrana risoluzione 23 aprile 1834 venne riconfermato nei suoi titoli. Il ramo secondogenito della casata ha origine da Giambattista, fratello del surricordato conte Giuseppe, avo di altro Giambattista (1863): con decreto ministeriale 30 maggio 1899 ebbe riconosciuto il titolo comitale con trasmissione primogeniale maschile.
