En torno del origen de este linaje hay la siguiente leyenda: Un caballero romano, llamado Casio Alfe, vino a España a raíz de la derrota de Guadalete, y uno de sus sucesores, que se llamaba Munio Egas Alfe, se puso al servicio del Rey Don Pelayo para ayudarle en la reconquista como Capitán de cien hombres. Un día le preguntó Don Pelayo qué soldados se atreverían a reconocer el campo moro, y el citado Munio le contestó: -Señor non vos aqueje eso, que los de Alfe irán y farán todo su deber por vos servir. Y marchando con los suyos a reconocer el campo, cayó en una emboscada que habían preparado los moros. Munio y sus soldados se defendieron, no obstante, valerosamente, logrando, tras dura lucha, ahuyentar al enemigo y hacerle algunos prisioneros. Volvió con éstos a presencia de Don Pelayo, y éste, recordando la frase de los de Alfe irán, etc, le autorizó para que se apellidase A. Este leyenda, que sólo recogemos a título de curiosidad, es notoriamente falsa, pues en el siglo VIII no hablaban así, y mal pudo decir Munio los de Alfe irán, que dió motivo para que Don Pelayo le diese el apellido A. Lo que se sabe de este linaje es que procede de Galicia, donde tuvo su casa solar, y que los descendientes de esta casa eran hijosdalgo. Rodrigo A., de Santa María de Ortigueira; Pedro A., de la feligresía de Santiago, y Antonio A. de Osinde Núñez y Marzo, de Santa María, jurisdicción de Puente Castelo de Miño, ganaron provisión de hidalguía en la Real Chancillería de Valladolid en 1558. ...
