La cepa inicial del apellido Amor, con el paso del tiempo, por situación geográfica o dialéctica esta forma inicial fue variando dando lugar al ilustre apellido Amores, usandose ambos indistintamente. La fuentes investigadas nos dan referencia de este apellido desde tiempos muy antiguos, su primitivo solar, le situamos en Castro Urdiales, preciosa villa de la provincia de Santander (Norte de España), tenemos registros en dicha villa en diferentes fechas, desde 1667 a 1742, de donde el último descendiente Juan Bautista de Amores, bautizado en Castro de Uriales pasó a Santiago de Chile y allí celebró capitulaciones matrimoniales el 1 de abril de 1777. De esta misma rama familiar comentaremos que Iván de Espinoza y Amores, fue gobernador de Chilóe y tuvieron gran descendencia, todos ellos originarios de Chile. El Sr. Don Juan Bautista de Amor ganó ejecutoria nobleza, dada por la Real Cancillería de Valladolid el 19 de octubre de 1789. Falleció en Santiago de Chile el 14 de enero de 1792, dejando viuda y gran ilustre descendencia. Una rama de A. se extendió por Castilla la Nueva y de ella fueron Diego A., vecino de Morata,que probó su hidalguía en Valladolid en 1536, otro caballero vecino de Almaguera (guadalajara) ganó título de caballero en la misma cancillería en el año 1606. Otra rama de este linaje tuvo asiento en la provincia de Lugo de (Galicia) y de ella procedieron Juan A. vecino de Coto de Balboa (1716) Pedro A. vecino de la feligresia de Conforto (1743) y Juan Manuel A. vecino de Ribadeo (1805). Destacaremos que en la delegación que fue enviada , por el Rey Sancho de Navara, a principios del siglo XIII, al Rey de Inglaterra "Juan Tierra" figuraba con Amores en la tropa de escolta. En los hechos de la penetración del protestantismo en Guipúzcua un A. formaba parte del círculo de amistades de Don lope de Aguirre y de los "Herejes de Durango". El valor de los esmaltes del escudo de Armas es: campo de plata, denota, pureza, sensibilidad, Templanza, clemencia, amabilidad, afán de victoria ...
