Noble y principal linaje de Navarra. Su primitivo solar radicó en la villa de Garayoa, del partido judicial de Aoiz. Una rama de este solar pasó a Guipúzcoa, estableciéndose en la villa de Berástegui, del partido judicial de Tolosa. Otra rama originaria del solar de Garayoa, y apellidada López de A., creó nueva casa en Urrasun, barrio perteneciente a la villa de Azpilcueta, Valle del Baztán y partido judicial de Pamplona. Martín y Juan López de A., descendientes de esa casa de Urrasun, y como tales, hijosdalgo notorios, pasaron también a Guipúzcoa y solicitaron ser admitidos como vecinos en la villa de A., del partido judicial de Tolosa; pero para lograrlo hubieron de sostener pleito que perdió dicha villa, siendo condenada a adimitirlos como vecinos e hijosdalgo, y a concederles todos los privilegios que como tales les correspondían. Fernando de A. de Garayoa, Domingo de A. y Catalina mayor y Catalina menor de A., vecinos de Pamplona, fueron reconocidos como nobles por los Tribunales de Navarra, en 1657. Juanes, Martín y otro Juanes de A., probaron su hidalguía ante la Justicia ordinaria de A., en 1667. Lorenzo de A. lo hizo en San Sebastián, en 1761. San Juan de A. y Labayen, probó también su nobleza en Zumaya, en 1584. Pablo de A. hizo información de hidalguía y limpieza de sangre ante el Corregidor y Diputados de Vizcaya, en 1793, y sus pruebas se conservan en el Archivio general de la Casa de Juntas de Guernica. ...
