Linaje de Aragón muy calificado y noble y de caballeros de mesnada. Proviene el apellido, según Vitales y otros tratadistas, del lugar de A. (del partido judicial de Sariñena y provincia de Huesca), cuyo nombre tomó, y en el que estuvo su solar. Juan Galíndez de A., rico-hombre, fué uno de los caballeros que más se señalaron en el servicio del Rey aragonés Don Alfonso I, por los años de 1114. Acompañó a dicho Monarca en el cerco de Zaragoza. Juan de A. se distinguió como Capitán valeroso en varias expediciones realizadas en 1133. Galindo de A. ayudó eficazmente, en 1196, al Rey Don Pedro II de Aragón. Sancho de A. sirvió al mismo Monarca, en 1207, en la guerra de Valencia. Pedro de A. realizó años después grandes hazañas cerca del Puig, luchando contra los moros. Valles de A., rico-hombre, como los anteriores, fué uno de los que sacaron a Don Jaime I el Conquistador, en 1215, del castillo de Monzón, donde le había recluído su tío el Infante Don Fernando. Pedro Sancho de A. (o solamente Sancho de A., como le nombran algunos autores), hermano del anterior, sirvió también al Rey Don Jaime I en las diferencias que, en 1250, tuvo con su hijo el Infante Don Alfonso sobre la división de su reino. En 1282 fué con don Pedro III de Aragón a la guerra de Sicilia, al frente de doscientos caballeros y tres mil almogávares. En 1283 se le designó, en unión de otros caballeros, para señalar el lugar del desafío de dicho Monarca con Carlos de Anjou. ...
