Sábese únicamente que es antiquísimo, como lo demuestra el padre Cristóbal Vega, que dedicó su obra In Luces al muy ilustre señor don Juan Arqués Jover, juez de la audiencia de Valencia. En esa obra se dice, y lo corroboran otros tratadistas, que Arnaldo de A. fue conquistador de Barcelona en 986, cuando el conde Borrell, que la había perdido, reclamó, para sacarla del poder de los moros, la ayuda de muchos caballeros, entre ellos la del citado Arnaldo de A. Ramón de A., Bernardo de A., Guerau de A. y Berenguer de A. fueron a la conquista de Jerusalén con Godofredo de Bouillón, en 1099. Guillermo de A. fue conquistador de las islas Baleares, bajo las banderas de Raimundo Berenguer, décimo conde de Barcelona. Arnaldo de A. se halló en la batalla de las Navas de Tolosa, en 1212. Otro Ramón de A. fue uno de los caballeros que estuvieron prevenidos, según afirma Miguel de Salazar, para defender al rey don Pedro III de Aragón, en su desafío con el rey Carlos de Sicilia, en 1283. Añade dicho tratadista que los caballeros escogidos para el desafío fueron ciento, pero los prevenidos, muchos más. La rama del reino de Valencia: Dicho Juan de A., señor de Peraltilla, fue conquistador de Valencia en 1238, y sirvió eficazmente al rey don Jaime I de Aragón, quien, en premio a sus grandes merecimientos, le heredó en dicha capital. ...
