The first person we know of is a Hans Bühlmann, mentioned in a sentence of the court of Giswil, as early as 1474. The following century stands out the figure of Johannes Bühlmann, who was parish priest of Cham from 1528/1531 to 1555. A Quirinus Bühlmann, theologian, flourished in the same century.
