On considère bourgeoises toutes les familles mentionnées dans l’Appendice de l’Armorial du Gévaudan parce qu’elles n’ont jamais porté officiellement a qualifications nobiliaires, et, pour celles existant encore en 1789, parce qu’elles n’ont pas été convoquées alors à l’Assemblée de la Noblesse du Gévaudan. Cepandant, certaines de ces familles, spécialement parmi les plus anciennes et les plus considérables, ont pu parvenir à la noblesse sans que nous ayons trouvé trace de leur anoblissement, ou sans qu’il ait été connu des commissaires chargés de la convocation des nobles en 1789. On croit donc devoir loyalement déclarer qu’il n’est pas impossible que telle ou telle famille inscrite ici aux rangs de la bourgeoisie puisse légitimement revendiquer la qualité de noble. On trouve: Jean docteur ès droits, avocat en Parlement, seigneur de Prévenchères, le Mooy, le Fraisse, bailli de Serverette, lietunant général, puis juge au bailliage de Gévaudan, subdélégué de l'Intendant de Languedoc, inspecteur des chemins royaux des Cévennes, fait hommage à l'évêque de Mende, en 1764, pour ses fiefs de la Malène, le Mooy, le Fraisse. ...
